Where better to run across a Techart Porsche Cayenne than parked on a rainy street behind the Vienna Opera House?
Its 560 hp engine made the ground rumble as the vehicle drove by, no doubt the extra power helping it corner better on the slick roadway. I'm not a big fan of SUVs (my cars tend to be low-profile by comparison and I'm tired of trying to see around the Armadas and Explorers that are so a dime-a-dozen in Malibu) but Techart has reworked the looks of the original Porsche Cayenne and added a Darth Vader-like attitude to a body that already looked pretty badass. While big, almost-a-truck vehicles are not my thing, if at some point I did feel compelled to buy a SUV, the Cayenne would be high up on the list and the Techart mods would certainly make owning such a big vehicle all the more pleasureable.
At least until the as-yet-a-unicorn Spyker C8 Peking-to-Paris SUV actually goes into production. The odds of this happening are somewhat greater than those for the question of whether or not Ill have enough money for a down payment on the Spyker by the time it's actually ready for sale. Probably nothing to worry about, as sadly, neither is likely to occur any time soon. A guy's gotta dream though, right?
I didn't see any exotics the past month in the UK. But I did see my first Nissan Leaf (much nicer looking than the super bland Toyota Prius), and a BMW X1. The X1 has been out in Europe since 2009, but isn't coming to the US for another 6 months or so. The X1 styling is far superior to the bland X3 and X5, and beats the X6.
Most frequently spotted car was the Landrover Defender - this is what the Brits use instead of a pickup trucj. I did see one pickup truck in 25 days - a Nissan Tundra. And of course, plenty of vintage MGs, Jags and two Austin Healeys. And a Morgan.
Sorry this is a yawn.

The Porsche Cayenne has been receiving mixed reviews from car experts and users. But from my point of view, this semi-crossover hits just the right spot. It has a big enough boot to fit your son’s trolley bag and your tennis rackets. But it also has a big enough engine to outrun those slow-runners on the Autobahn. And despite all that muscle and space, it still has a comfortable interior and ample legroom. It’s a great family car for those petrol heads who have a need for speed.

Petrol heads won't drive a Cayenne, I'm sure. I bet the Cayenne is an excellent SUV, but it doesn't have the spirit of a sports car. It's a good SUV for the family, albeit an expensive one, but tall cars and speed make for a risky combination. Get a Cayenne if you want to, but don't drive it like a 911.
